A simple overview of the digestive system.
Bile and pancreatic juice flow into the same duct to the duodenum. Insulin from the islets of Langerhans enters the bloodstream directly. The stomach produces hydrochloric acid (HCl) for bacterial combat, iron/calcium absorption, bicarbonate production, as well as intrinsic factor (for later B12 absorption in the intestine) and pepsin (protein enzyme).
Saliva contains amylase (sugar enzyme) and mucin (for mucus formation). Intestinal juice contains erepsin (protein enzyme), sucrase, lactase, and maltase enzymes (sugar metabolism). Bile emulsifies (converts fat into small fat globules), neutralizes the acidic gastric juice that passes through, and forms soluble compounds with fatty acids.
Fluoride supplements via sodium fluoride (NaF) are enzyme-killing. Instead, use chewed rye – it naturally contains calcium fluoride. And brush your teeth with pH toothpaste powder.
Pancreatic juice contains the enzymes trypsin (for protein breakdown into amino acids), lipase (for breaking down fat into glycerol and fatty acids), amylase (converts complex sugars into simple ones). Bicarbonate (HCO3) is also produced to neutralize the acidic contents coming from the stomach. The small intestine should be alkaline to absorb vitamins. The large intestine allows fluid into the body, unless the large intestine is too dry/”hard.”
